Sept. 06, 2002

The Whale Stewardship Project (WSP) received a report during the morning of September 5 that Echo was observed swimming in Port-Au-Port Bay (West Bay). By evening that same day, Echo had travelled to Long Point at the northern most location of the Port-Au-Port Bay and was again reported by fishermen. In both reports, the fishermen confirmed that the whale had cuts on the left side of his head. One fisherman spent about a half- hour with the beluga. Although a WSP representative was searching in the area, the movements of the whale together with a time-lag in receiving the reports prevented her from locating and documenting Echo.
